The Academy was my second full-length novel and allowed me the opportunity to write about life in a “typical” secondary school – where I spent most of my working life. The setting of Elmdale will be familiar to those living in East Retford!
The Academy tells the story of a day in the life of Phoenix Academy through the eyes of children, parents and teachers. Each has a different perspective on the day and on the academy.
It is December and the academy is getting ready for its Christmas concert. Outside the school in the cold December morning someone waits with a different plan.
